Airat Tagirovich Karimov

(1941–2016)

Pianist and composer. Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Bashkortostan (Russia, 1995). Graduate of the Urals State Conservatoire as a classical pianist and the Ufa Institute of Arts as a composer. He was a central figure in Bashkir music and a pioneer of crossover genres in professional music.

• Solo pianist and performer
• Artistic director of the band Donskie Rebyata
• Leader of the instrumental ensemble Irandek
• Head of the music department at the Russian Drama Theater
